Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia argued in his bail petition in a trial court that keeping him in detention would serve no useful purpose because all recoveries in the case had already been made. The CBI had objected to Sisodia’s bail request, claiming that it would jeopardize and stall their probe.
“A brief written submission on behalf of the CBI has been filed in opposition to the accused’s regular bail application.” A copy of it, as well as case law, has been supplied to the accused’s counsel. “A copy of a portion of the case diary as well as statements from some witnesses have been made available,” the Special Judge stated on March 24.

On February 26, the CBI detained Manish Sisodia in connection with the accusation of irregularities in the development and implementation of the now-canceled 2021-22 excise policy case. However, in view of his detention in the liquor policy issue, Sisodia later tendered his resignation as deputy CM.
According to an internet report, the Delhi excise policy was changed to give license holders unfair advantages. The license price was waived or decreased, and the L-1 (wholesaler) license was extended without the approval of the relevant government.
According to the charge sheet, then-AAP communication and media-in-charge Vijay Nair allegedly received Rs 100 crore in advance as ‘kickbacks’ from a ‘South Group’ whose partners were allegedly handed 65% interests in a company for payment collection. “False representation, concealment of true ownership, and proxies” were used to control the stakes.

Manish Sisodia, a major Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, is the deputy chief minister of Delhi in Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet. Sisodia’s Politician Career
Manish Sisodia won the Patparganj constituency in the 2020 Delhi Vidhan Sabha election, defeating Ravi Negi. Sisodia was a founder member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He was appointed to its Political Affairs Committee.
He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the Patparganj constituency of East Delhi in the December 2013 Delhi Assembly election, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Nakul Bhardwaj by 11,476 votes.
In the February 2015 Delhi Assembly election, in which the AAP won by a landslide, he was re-elected from Patparganj, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party’s Vinod Kumar Binny by over 28,761 votes. In the 2020 Delhi Legislative Assembly election, he defeated BJP candidate Ravinder Singh Negi by almost 3000 votes.
Sisodia’s Awards and Recognition
The Indian Express named him one of the 100 most important Indians in 2016.

Following that, he became a significant participant in the Anna Hazare-led India Against Corruption movement, which sought a Jan Lokpal bill in 2011. After winning the Delhi Assembly elections in December 2013, Sisodia rose to popularity and was elected MLA from the Patparganj constituency.
