Why Did Patrick J. Adam Leave Suits? The actor stayed with the court drama show until the seventh season. He played the part of Mike Ross, in case you forgot. We thought of him as someone who dropped out of college and then became a lawyer without a license. Patrick did make a cameo in Season 9, so don’t forget to say that. Even so, everyone was surprised by his quick exit in the middle of the show. Why on earth did he do that?
Patrick J. Adams is an actor from Toronto, Canada, who can do a lot of different things. He was born in 1981, making him 41 years old now. If you liked him, did you not see him as Philip in the thriller series Plan B from 2023? Some of Patrick’s other well-known roles are in The Swearing Jar, Clara, Friday Night Lights, Pretty Little Liars, Sneaky Pete Season 3, A League of Their Own, etc.
Coming back to the fact that Patrick J. Adams left Suits in the middle, his fans were very upset. But there is a reason for everything. The actor did what he did for some clear reasons, and it was easy to see why. Because they were honest, Suits kept their doors open for him. So, he came back to the show as a guest star. So, what did you say? Here’s what we know about why Patrick J. Adams left Suits.
Why Did Patrick J. Adam Leave Suits?
His family was the main reason Patrick J. Adams left Suits. The actor put his family ahead of his work on the court drama show. Patrick left looking like he had been away from his wife, Troian Bellisario, for a long time. Also, when filming Season 7, he thought it was time to make a change because his role, Mike, was coming to an end.
Patrick J. Adams has been married to Pretty Little Liars actress Troian Bellisario since December 2016. They are lucky to have a couple of girls. Patrick explained why he was leaving by saying that he first thought about leaving Suits in the first part of Season 6. Why? Because Mike Ross had just gotten out of jail at that time. But he didn’t do it because he didn’t know how the story would end.
It might look like a great place to live. But in the real world, artists do have to go through a lot to become famous and successful. One of these pains is having to spend a long time away from family. In the same way, Patrick J. Adams was away from his wife while he was filming Suits. He finally made his move when he thought things were going too far. If not, he would always feel that pressure.
Patrick J. Adams stopped the main cast of Suits from making deals for Season 8 when they tried to do so. He said, “We need to think about this because it’s more of my time and more of my life, and what’s the story left to tell?” Patrick J. Adams didn’t want to disappoint his friends, though. His leaving Suits was sad, scary, and other things. But he said that just because something stopped for him didn’t mean the show wasn’t still going to do more. Patrick said, “It’s just not right for me to be a part of it from here on out.”

Did Patrick J. Adams Return in Suits?
Adams played Mike again in the ninth and last season of Suits. Mike went back to New York City because he had to work on a case there. One of Mike’s clients got mixed up with one of Samantha Wheeler’s, which put him in a situation where he had to go up against his old law business. When asked by Entertainment Tonight why he chose to be a regular character on the USA Network show, Adams said:
“Ultimately, it was about coming back. It was about, ‘We’d love to get the band back together,’ basically. Do one last trip around the world. It was as simple as that. For me, it was just an excuse to come and see everybody and really be here for the final moment.”
So, Adams wanted to honor the nine great seasons of Suits. Before the network turned off the lights for good, the star wanted to say one last thing about his character and the show. Plus, since Harvey and Donna Paulsen’s story ended with them moving to Seattle to work at their law company with Mike and Rachel, it made sense for Mike to come back.
What Did Patrick J. Adams Say About the Reason to Leave Suits?
Adams told THR in 2018 that he wanted to do it partly because he wanted to spend more time with his wife, Troian Bellisario, who stars in Pretty Little Liars. The couple met in 2009 and got married in 2016. In the fall of 2018, they had their first child. Adams quit his regular part on Suits, but it wasn’t just because he wanted to spend more time with his family. Mike is sent to jail at the end of Season 5, and even though he gets out halfway through Season 6, Adams thought that was a good way for Mike’s story to end. He would marry Rachel Zane, who was played by Meghan Markle, and then leave the world of big business law.
“After seven seasons—really, eight years away from home and from the woman who would become my wife—there was that pressure. After Mike got out of jail at the end of the first part of season six, I began to think about leaving. From the point of view of the story, I wasn’t sure what he should do next. During his trial, Mike promised that if he was allowed to keep being a lawyer, he would use his time and energy to help people who didn’t have a lawyer and not big corporations.

I didn’t know how that version of the character was going to fit into the show. Aaron Korsh and I talked about it, and he suggested that Harvey (Gabriel Macht) offer a one-for-one deal that would keep Mike working at the company so he could save up money to take on more pro bono cases. That made me think of a fun season seven. I’m happy with how this season went.”
