What Happened to the Face of King Viserys?
If you’ve seen any of the 8 episodes of House of the Dragon, you must have seen King Viserys slowly lose his parts to a disease no one knows about.
There have been rumors that Viserys has a form of leprosy. As the TV show went on, his illness got worse as well. His bones began deteriorating.
In the end, the King loses his strength and can’t heal from small cuts caused by the Iron Throne. His arms and fingers are being eaten away by a nasty disease. He also had leprosy on his face. In the most recent episode, he even had a rotten hole on the side of his face that let the inside of his body show.
Viserys’s face was badly infected, so he slept with bandages on and wore a gold mask to court. The King’s right side was gone. He had lost his right eye and his cheeks were gone.
Also, the King needed a steady supply of poppy milk to get through the days. The poppy flower is used to make poppy milk, which is a painkiller or drug. When taken in big amounts, it can make you feel very sleepy.
How Did King Viserys Die in House of the Dragon?
It was said that King Viserys I Targaryen would sleep so fast that he would die. But his death was very different from what was planned. According to Inverse, the Viserys died quietly in the Red Keep while they were taking a nap.
The main source of trouble in House of the Dragon was always who would take the Iron Throne after King Viserys I Targaryen. Rhaenyra was the first Targaryen queen, but Daemon, Veserys’s brother, wanted the throne for himself. On the other hand, Viserys’s kid was already born to Alicenet Hightower.
Viserys had to die so that the story could go in a good direction. But how and when were the questions. In episode 5, the King pretended to die, but he really died in episode 8.

King Viserys’s Last Words
King Viserys gets more poppy milk, which seems to have made him see things. He thinks about his wife, Alicent, because his daughter Rhaenyra told him that she is the one who must carry the load of his Song of Ice and Fire dream.
He says, “My love,” and then House of the Dragon eps 8 cuts to black, which makes it seem like Viserys has died for real. The King’s last words were “My love” to Rhaenyra’s mother, Aemma Arryn. Even after Aemma was killed in episode 1 of House of the Dragon, King still loved her.
Viserys’s last words were supposed to show that he had finally died and that he would see his first wife again. Alicent, on the other hand, seems to think that King’s last words are different. Alicent took over the throne by mistake because of the last words.
