IPL 2023: Can Shubman Gill  danger for CSK in final

Shubman Gill led all scorers in that game with 45, and he did it once more for the Titans on Friday against the Mumbai Indians in a qualifying game, but with a much greater total.

Hardik Pandya, the captain of Gujarat, rated the team's exciting 129 off 60 balls as "one of the finest" T20 knocks he had ever seen.

At no point did he appear hurried or out of control, Hardik remarked after Gill, who was dismissed on 30, had smashed 10 sixes and seven fours against Mumbai.

The balls appeared to be being thrown down, and he appeared to be simply striking them. He is a superstar who will make a significant contribution to Indian cricket and franchise cricket.

Gill's century was his third in four innings; his other two scores were an unbeaten 104 off 52 deliveries against Royal Challengers Bangalore and a 58-ball 101 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Gill would surpass Virat Kohli's record of 973 runs in a single IPL season if he gets 123 or more against Chennai, which shouldn't be ruled out given his recent performance.

Only England's white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who scored 863 runs for Rajasthan in 2022, stands between man-of-the-season Gill and Gujarat batsman Kohli on that list.

Gill would match Kohli and Buttler's four-in-a-season record with a hundred of any sort.
