Celebrating Progress: PM Modi Launches Rs 75 Coin on New Parliament Opening

On Sunday (May 28), Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a commemorative coin of Rs 75 value to honor the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

The latest Rs 75 currency is round with a 44mm diameter, according to the Ministry of Finance. The coin is made of a quaternary alloy of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel, and 5% zinc.

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre, with the legend “सत्यमेि जयते” (Satyameva Jayate) inscribed below.

"It is flanked on the left periphery by the word "" (Bharat) in Devnagri script and on the right periphery by the word "INDIA" in English.

The coin's reverse shows the new parliament building. The coin's upper and lower peripheries display "Sansad Sankul" in Devanagari and "Parliament Complex" in English.

Anyone interested in purchasing commemorative coins should go to the Securities of Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) website.

The government produced a Rs 100 commemorative coin to honor former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2018, however it's currently available on SPMCIL's website for 5,717.

The federal government has the authority to create and manufacture coins in a range of denominations thanks to the Coinage Act, 2011. 

The RBI's responsibility for coins is restricted to distributing the coins that the federal government provides.
