The Fortuner is a very popular SUV in the large SUV segment and is expected to remain popular for a long time. This SUV is highly celebrated and has a cult following in India. The company has recently released the Fortuner Leader Edition in the Asian subcontinent. This new release is expected to strengthen its position as a VIP mobile.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Unveiled
In India, Toyota has been very successful with the Fortuner and Innova brands since they were first introduced. Although the Fortuner brand in India does not prioritize the same value-for-money philosophy as global products, it has managed to become extremely successful and dominant in the large SUV segment.
The recently released Leader Edition enhances the VIP mobile experience even more. If you know about Toyota’s global lineup, you may be aware that the company also uses the name “Leader” for the Fortuner model in some ASEAN countries. In those markets, the Fortuner Leader is the same as the Fortuner Sigma sold in India. The base trim, in simpler terms.
In ASEAN countries, the Fortuner Leader model has headlights from the Sigma model in India and bumpers from the Legender model. That’s all. The way Fortuner Leader is approached in India is different. The headlights and bumper of the car are the same as the Fortuner Sigma. However, the car has additional body kits and blackened elements to give a sporty look. These features are available only in the 4X2 Diesel configurations of the Sigma model.
The cost of Fortuner Leader has not been announced yet. The price will depend on the accessories and fittings chosen, and the dealer will provide a quote. The Fortuner Leader is available in three dual-tone colors: Super White, Platinum Pearl White, and Silver Metallic. All of these colors come with a black roof.
Unique Elements With Leader Edition
We talked about special body kits for the Indian Toyota Fortuner Leader, which are based on the Sigma trim. These include spoilers for the front and rear bumpers that enhance the appearance and make the vehicle more noticeable on the road. The chunky door claddings are not included as a standard feature. In addition, Toyota has painted the wheels black, which gives them a stylish appearance.
However, the only design change in the Fortuner Leader is the addition of new dual-tone seat covers. Since this is a Fortuner, we can anticipate a significant increase in price for buyers who choose the Leader Edition. However, Toyota is including auto-folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors), a wireless charger, and TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) to help explain the increase in price.
The Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition is only available with a 2.8L diesel 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. This engine has been thoroughly tested and proven to be able to produce a maximum power of 200 bhp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The Leader Edition is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It is also equipped with a 4X2 rear-wheel drive system. The Fortuner competes directly with the Isuzu MU-X and MG Gloster.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Price and Features
Toyota has not announced an official price for the Fortuner Leader Edition. The prices will be determined at the dealership based on the specific accessories required. The prices for the Leader Edition of the Fortuner 4×2 are expected to be slightly higher than the standard version, which is priced between Rs 35.93 lakh and Rs 38.21 lakh.
The premium package includes dual-tone seat covers, a tyre pressure monitor, auto-folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors), and a wireless charger. The Fortuner Leader Edition has new black alloy wheels on the outside. It comes in three dual-tone color options: Super white, Platinum Pearl white, and Silver Metallic. All of these options have contrasting black elements. The Leader Edition can stand out even more with its new front and rear bumper ‘spoilers’. These spoilers are considered official accessories by Toyota and are installed by the dealer.

The Fortuner Leader Edition is only available in 4×2 form. It has a 204hp, 2.8-liter diesel engine that produces 500Nm of torque when paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission, and 420Nm of torque when paired with the manual gearbox.
