The news about Gilded Age season 2 said that HBO had decided to keep making the historical drama that Julian Fellowes of Downton Abbey made for the first season. The Gilded Age has been a big hit for HBO, and viewers have been drawn into the show’s richly imagined New York City in 1882 and the social conflict between Old New York and the New Money family led by George (Morgan Spector) and Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon).
At the start of The Gilded Age, Marian Brook, played by Louisa Jacobson, was the main character from the audience’s point of view in the world of New York high society in the late 1800s. The show also did a good job of showing Peggy Scott’s (Denée Benton) life as an African-American.

The Gilded Age Season 2 Story
As the first season of The Gilded Age came to a close, a major storyline about George Russell’s legal problems after a train crash were wrapped up. In the season 1 finale of The Gilded Age, the focus is on whether Mrs. Astor (Donna Murphy) will go to Gladys Russell’s (Taissa Farmiga) debutante ball. If she does, Bertha will finally be able to join high society.
The other big question is whether or not Marian will run away with Mr. Raikes (Thomas Cocquerel). The Gilded Age season 2 will pick up where the first season left off, according to the news. Since Cocquerel won’t be back for the new season, the elopement storyline should be finished quickly.
But Julian Fellowes, who created The Gilded Age, will also add a few new characters and more historical events and people from the late 1800s, like the famous Black newspaper editor T. Thomas Fortune (Sullivan Jones) and Booker T. Washington (Michael Braugher). No matter what the story is about in The Gilded Age season 2, the themes will stay the same: old money vs. new money, old world vs. new world, and the huge change in New York society.
