He played football for the Miami Hurricanes, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, and the Virginia Union Panthers over the course of his career.
During an interview with TMZ, Virginia Union Associate Head Coach Diego Ryland talked about the sudden death of a former star. He said it was “very unfortunate.”

Ryland went on to say that Ray was “a great young man and an even better teammate.” All of the people at Virginia Union University are hoping for Ray’s family as they deal with his death.

Up until now, not much was known about how Ray Lewis III, the son of the star linebacker, died. His younger brother Rahsaan recently wrote a touching ode to him on the social media site Instagram. In the post on social media, he said that his older brother was in a lot of pain and that he hoped he was at peace now.
Rahsaan wrote, “Really can’t believe I’m typing this, but RIP, big brother.” I hope you’re at peace now because I know how much you were hurting. I don’t have words, and I never will, because this hurts so much.”
He said, “I love you, I love you, I love you.” Your cousin will miss you, but she will hear about you over and over again. Just watch out for us all, big brother, and be our guardian. I promise to make you happy and proud.”
Mark James, Lewis’s coach at Virginia Union who left the school in 2017, also released a statement that said, “Two “RIP” posts for my former players right after each other. It was a pleasure to take you to Virginia Union, young man. God bless your family, Ray Ray. Great young man.”
