The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) cancelled the OSSC Accountant exam that was given on April 23, 2023, one day after on April 24, 2023. Many applicants were left in the dark because of major mistakes in the question papers.
OSSC conducts exams to find qualified people for the job of Accountant in different Odisha Government departments. OSSC has just announced that there are 65 open positions for accountants in the Housing and Urban Development Department. Why was the OSSC Accountant Prelims Exam 2023 Cancelled?
An official notice from OSSC stated, “The OSSC has decided to cancel both the Odia and English versions of the preliminary examination that was to be held on April 23, 2023.” It also says, “Because the questions in the Odia version of the preliminary exam for accountants in the Housing and Urban Development Department were printed with a lot of mistakes.”
OSSC also said that the Commission is sorry for causing the candidates trouble. The notice said, “A new date for the preliminary exam for accountants will be given soon.”

Earlier, a large number of people who took the Odisha Staff Selection Commission’s (OSSC) accountant recruitment test on Sunday said that the question papers had a lot of mistakes.
The applicants said that the commission gave the test without carefully looking over the questions, which is why there was so much trouble. Some candidates even used social media and the OSSC to ask that the test be redone because the question papers were wrong.
About the mistakes on the test, a candidate said, “The question paper was printed using Google Translate. We had a hard time figuring out how to answer the question.”
Satyakam Mishra, an expert on education, said, “Such mistakes will happen if the proofreaders don’t know the language well. I think these mistakes happened because the wrong printing press was used. Such things can be stopped if the Chairman is personally interested in everything.”
