Mosque at the Site of Odisha Train Accident: The train derailment in Odisha on June 2 claimed 275 lives and left over 700 injured. Many gruesome photos and videos of this triple-train accident have also surfaced. Now some posts are being shared on social media giving a communal color to this incident.
A photo of the incident has gone viral. A building is seen at some distance from the site of the train accident. It is being claimed that this is a mosque. The incident took place a few kilometers from here on Friday.
A user named Vinu Bhai Patel wrote, “This is a picture of the Balasore train accident. In which a mosque is also seen nearby and remembers the accident that happened on Friday. There is some conspiracy.
“Another user Gaurav Singh, a Hindu, wrote,” “Look at this pic, there is a mosque nearby, Balasore train accident happened on Friday.” This is just a coincidence or an experiment. Is this an accident or a terrorist attack? Does the Balasore train accident have any connection with Friday?
A verified user, Dr. Sulakshya Singh Prajapati also gave a communal colour to the incident, claiming that the station master was a Muslim man. “CBI has entered into the Odisha train accident case. This means that in the first investigation, the government has suspected conspiracy, otherwise why CBI? ? . Station master Sarif Khan is also absconding.
To confirm the matter, we contacted Bhaskar, who was on the ground reporting on the Balasore train accident. They told us that the building seen in the photo is not a mosque but a temple. This is an ISKCON temple. The train accident took place on the evening of June 2 in front of this temple.

Taking to Twitter, Odisha Police refuted the claim being made with the viral photo. “It has been observed that some social media handles are mischievously giving communal colour to the tragic train accident in Balasore. It’s extremely unfortunate.
Odisha Police further wrote – GRP, Odisha is investigating the cause of the accident and all other aspects. We appeal to everyone not to share such false and malicious posts. Strict legal action will be taken against those who try to disturb communal harmony by spreading rumours.

It is clear that the claim being made with the viral photo on social media is completely false and baseless. At the same time, the claim of the station master being from the Muslim community is also false.
We further investigated the station master’s claim of being a Muslim. During this time, we came across a news website named Kalinga TV. The report claimed that the station master fled after the accident. They are now being interrogated. It is to be noted that the name of the station master is not Sarif Khan but SB Mohante.
