The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on their website on October 29 that an autopsy had been done but that the cause of death has been “deferred” until toxicology tests come back. It also says that “other significant conditions” played a role in his death. It might take weeks to finish the toxicology study. TMZ says that Matthew Perry, who was 54 years old, died from what looked like drowning. The newspaper said that on Saturday, October 28, 2023, the star from Friends was found dead in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles, California.
At first, it was said that no drugs were found at the scene of the crime and that there was no evidence of foul play. However, the police are still looking into how Matthew Perry died. Even though the autopsy is over, investigators are still waiting for the full toxicology reports.
On November 1, 2023, TMZ said that Perry passed a less thorough drug test that showed he did not have any fentanyl or meth in his blood. But it will take months for more in-depth tests to be done to see if his blood had other illegal drugs in it or if he took prescription drugs in larger amounts.
