The American rapper Lil Tjay was arrested on June 6, 2023, while he was on Instagram Live. His lawyer, Dawn Florio, confirmed the story and said that he was filming a music video in the Bronx, New York, at the time of the incident.

Why Did Lil Tjay Get Arrested?
On Tuesday afternoon, the musician’s IG live video gave people a front-row seat as he was handcuffed and taken away during a traffic stop in the Bronx. In the video, Lil Tjay can be seen being rebellious and asking why he was arrested. He said:
“No, bro. Hell no. What’s in that car? I don’t know what is in the car. Do not touch me. There’s no weapon in the car.”
The video seems to show that someone in the crowd told the Destined 2 Win singer to stop fighting to calm things down, while multiple cops grabbed Lil Tjay to handcuff him.

Who’s Lil Tjay? The Rapper is Arrested for the Fourth Time This Year
Tione Kenyon Jayden Merritt a.k.a. is a rapper and musician from New York City. He started his job in 2017 when he started putting his music on SoundCloud. His song “Resume” got him a lot of attention. In 2018, he released the hit song Brother, which led to a deal with Columbia Records.
The rapper dropped his first album, True 2 Myself, on October 11, 2019. It debuted at number 5 on the US Billboard 200. Lil Tjay is best known for his hit songs, Calling My Phone and In My Head.
Last year, the singer was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery. On January 16, 2023, he and another Bronx rapper, Ice Spice, were arrested for having a gun. Two weeks later, Lil Tjay was arrested again for missing a court meeting for the same thing.
In May of this year, he was caught for the third time on weapon possession charges related to the shooting he was in last June.

In 2022, Lil Tjay Was Shot 7 Times
Before this, Tjay had been shot seven times in a shooting in New Jersey last summer. In June 2022, the killing became public knowledge. Then, he gave his friends an update on Instagram.
The leader of Pop Out wrote, “Man, I’m just checking in with you guys. I just want to say thanks for loving me and supporting me. I was looking at the DMs and seeing the notes and everything else, and I felt loved, know what I’m saying?”
