The Company Secretaries Act of 1980 made the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, which trains Company Secretaries in India. This group is recognized by the government. The Company Law Board started the Company Secretaryship course in 1960. The Company Law Board ran the test until 1968 when it was taken over by the ICSI.
