Gruha Lakshmi Scheme: The Telangana government has released the Guidelines for the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme for SC, ST, BC, and minorities. Gruha Lakshmi would present each beneficiary with a one-time award of Rs 3 lakh to build a dwelling that meets their needs. Highlights of Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana
Mr Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, launched the Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana. This program intends to provide financial aid to the head lady of the house in order to assist them in building their dwellings. The government would provide an amount to the head women of families living below the poverty line (BPL) and other vulnerable parts of society who are unable to build their own homes owing to financial constraints.

About Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana
Under the Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana, the Telangana government would provide Rs. 3 lakhs in three instalments to women from the poorer sectors of society to help them build their homes. The funds will be transferred straight to the beneficiaries bank accounts via Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).
This project will use Rs 12,000 crore to create four lakh dwellings in Telangana, while Rs 412 crore has been granted for the construction of 100,000 homes in Telangana. Over 1,193 residences have been granted across all constituencies, with an additional 43,000 approved under the state quota.
Under this concept, each beneficiary will receive a one-time payment to construct a home of their choosing. The residences built under this initiative will bear the Gruhalahakshmi logo, which has been approved by the government. Collectors are the nodal officers in charge of carrying out this scheme in the districts. The Commissioners are the nodal officer for the Gruhalakhsmi Scheme in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) jurisdiction.
Eligibility for the Gruhalakshmi Scheme
- Applicants must be Telangana permanent residents.
- This scheme is only available to women in the household.
- Applicants must be Dalit, SC, ST, BC, or minority members.
- Applicants must be in possession of a food security card.
- To build a home, applicants must own land.
- Applicants with RCC roofs are not eligible for this plan.
What is the Procedure for Applying for the Gruhalakshmi Scheme?
The Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana will be implemented by the government on June 24, 2023. The government will soon establish the scheme’s official website and registration process. The Gruhalakshmi Scheme application online method would be as follows once the official website is launched:
- Visit the Gruhalakshmi Scheme Telangana’s official website.
- Click on the ‘Gruhalakshmi Scheme Apply Online button.
- The application form will be shown. Fill out the form with all of the necessary information.
- Upload the required papers and complete the form.
Application Form for the Gruhalakshmi Scheme
The Telangana government has yet to release the Gruhalakshmi Scheme application form. It will also create a separate Gruhalakshmi portal and mobile application to implement the scheme. When the form is made available, qualified applicants can fill it out and submit it. The application form will be approved in the following manner:
- All applications will be received by the District Collector and reviewed for eligibility.
- The District Collector will finalize the list of eligible applicants after it has been scrutinized.
- The government, specifically the District In-charge Minister, would allocate funds for the houses in stages.
- The remaining eligible candidates who are not sanctioned in the first round will be added to the village or ward’s Permanent Wait List (PWL) and will be considered in future penalties.
- TSHCL’s Managing Director will oversee the scheme at the state level and report to the government.
- Photos with the date and time stamps, as well as geographical locations, should be provided at the three stages of the houses, namely the basement stage, roof-laid stage, and completion level.
Advantages of the Gruhalakshmi Scheme
The Telangana government would provide Rs.3 lakh in financial help to eligible women in three parts or instalments. It will provide Rs.1 lakh in the basement, Rs.1 lakh in the roof stage, and Rs.1 lakh after the work is completed. The Gruhalakshmi Scheme benefits would be granted in the name of the lady beneficiary.

The grantee has the option of designing her own home. However, under this scheme, the funds can only be utilized to build two-bedroom RCC dwellings. To receive the funds, the beneficiary must register a separate bank account in her name; the Jandhan account will not be used for this purpose due to transaction limits.
