About FMGE 2023
The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, or FMGE, is a licensing exam given by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). To register with the National Medical Commission (NMC)/State Medical Council (SMC), an Indian citizen or OCI who got their primary medical degree from a school outside India but wants to work in India needs to pass this test. But since FMGE didn’t start until 2002, candidates who finished their first-degree course on or before March 15, 2002, do not have to take this test. One must also remember that the FMGE is not an entrance exam and cannot be used to get into any school. It is a test for getting a license for doctors who graduated from a medical school outside of the United States. The test is taken twice a year, in December and June. If someone is not able to pass the FMGE test in December, they can try again in June.
