Extraction 2 Release Date: This year, Extraction 2 will bring Chris Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake back to Netflix, and the action-adventure sequel won’t be out for long.
The first movie is still in the top ten most-watched Netflix movies of all time. It is currently ranked sixth, with 231.34 million hours watched in its first 28 days. Even though we’ve had to wait a while, it’s not a surprise that Netflix announced a second season soon after the first one came out.
Behind the scenes, Sam Hargrave and Joe Russo came back to direct and write, respectively, and Hemsworth will also be back. At the end of the first movie, it wasn’t clear what would happen to Tyler Rake, but a clip in September 2021 made it clear: #RakeLives.
But what can we hope for when he comes back? Here is all the information you need about Extraction 2.
What is the Release Date of Extraction 2?
On June 16, 2023, Extraction 2 will be first shown on Netflix. In November 2021, in Prague, Czech Republic, work on the sequel, which was directed by Sam Hargrave, started.
Filming was done in April 2022, but there were more reshoots in November 2022. Producer Joe Russo told Collider, “It’s very different from “Extraction 1,” which we liked. In that way, it’s its own movie. Its color scheme is different. It takes place in another part of the world. It moves faster and sounds different than the first one.
Will Extraction 2 Be in Theaters?
As of right now, Netflix hasn’t said when Extraction 2 will be shown in theaters. Netflix has given some of its movies a chance on the big screen before. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Luther: The Fallen Sun, and The Gray Man all had limited theater runs. So it wouldn’t be out of the question for the streaming service to show Extraction 2 in theaters before it comes out on streaming.
What is the Plot of Extraction 2?
Since Gaspar’s character has gotten a lot of attention, the new story could have something to do with when Rake and Gaspar were partners. Maybe an old enemy is coming back to bother Rake now? Even though it’s been done a thousand times, it still has some promise. We do know that there will be one shot of fighting in the movie.
Steve Weintraub, the head of Collider, talked to the Russos, and they told him there’s a 14-minute oner. Joe Russo said, “I don’t have a stopwatch, but that seems like a pretty good time.” Later, it was found out that the one fight scene takes a whopping 21 minutes. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Hargrave talked about how he made a scene with so many moving parts:
“We build in certain stitch points where we could, but in those broken-up pieces you still have sequences that will be between 30 seconds and a minute-and-a-half. Sometimes there are 50, 60. 75 moves in a row with dozens of stunt performers. And it was at night, in the middle of winter. Chris had red ears and a red nose because he was freezing.”
The Cast of Extraction 2
Chris Hemsworth is definitely coming back for the second movie. Nik Kha will also be played by Golshifteh Farahani, who was in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Adam Bessa, who played Mosul, will also play Yaz Khan in the movie.
Other new faces include Olga Kurylenko (Black Widow) as Mia, Tinatin Dalakishvili (The Undeclared War) as Ketevan, Andro Jafaridze as Sandro, Miriam, and Marta Kovziashvili as Nina, Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick) as Knostantine, Tornike Gogrichiani as Zurab, Levan Saginashvili as Vakhtang, and George Lasha as Sergo.

Is There Any Trailer For Extraction 2?
On April 3, 2023, a new trailer for Extraction 2 came out. Look at it. In the new trailer, Hemsworth’s hero breaks a woman out of a snowy jail during a violent, explosive riot. At one point, he gets hit with a Molotov cocktail, but he keeps punching people in the face with his flaming hand.
Hargrave says that Hemsworth actually let himself be set on fire to help make “the craziest one in cinema history.”
“I couldn’t pass up the image of Chris Hemsworth beating up a bunch of prisoners while he was on fire and in the snow,” the director told Empire.

“And Chris deserves credit. It wasn’t computer-generated fire. And he had to keep doing it… I don’t know many people, let alone Hollywood stars, who would let you set them on fire on camera.
