Dhiraj Sahu allegedly said in his 2018 Rajya Sabha election affidavit that he owned property worth more than ₹34 crore. Sahu ran for office in 1977.

In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress party and linked to a news story about the I-T Department getting back ₹290 crore in cash from different places.

When the IT staff saw the huge amount of cash, they decided to get banks to use cash-counting machines. However, many of the machines didn’t work because of the large amount of cash. Reports say that 176 bags full of cash were brought to the office of the State Bank of India (SBI), where the counting took place.
BJP Hits Out to Protest
BJP MPs will hold a protest at the Gandhi statue in Parliament on Monday as part of a larger protest against the seizure of cash from properties connected to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu.
Meenakashi Lekhi, a Union Minister and BJP leader, said on Saturday that the Congress party has tried to pass on corruption from one generation to the next. “So far, the most money that has been found on Dheeraj Sahu’s property has come from corrupt people.” It’s now worth ₹300 crore…”Congress has tried to pass on corruption from one generation to the next,” Meenakashi Lekhi said.
There were statewide protests and dharnas on Sunday in several other district headquarters, such as Chaibasa, Jamshedpur, and Bokaro. CP Singh, a local MLA in Ranchi, said that it has been the “tradition of the Congress” to steal, scam, and be crooked at the BJP protest near Raj Bhavan. “The Congress helps corrupt people get away with things.” “The BJP needs to expose it and get rid of it from the country,” he said.

After the raids, the Congress broke ties with Dheeraj Sahu, who is an MP for Jharkhand in the Rajya Sabha, on Saturday. “The Indian National Congress has nothing to do with Dheeraj Sahu’s business.” Income-tax officials are said to have found huge amounts of cash in his homes. Only he can explain this, and he should explain it,” AICC general secretary Communications Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X. Gupta, who is the health minister of Jharkhand, said on Sunday that his party had nothing to do with it.
