In the year 2022, the world spent a total of $1.981 trillion on defense. The budget allocated for defense varies according to the size and population of the nation, with the number of individuals in the military being the main factor that determines the budget amount.
In 2022, India allocated $70.6 billion (approximately Rs. 5,25,166cr) towards defense spending, with the majority being allocated to salaries (31%), pensions (23%), and the modernization of weapons and equipment (24%).
