You know what is better than one, Rachel Weisz? Two Rachel Weiszs. That’s what the Dead Ringers gave us by taking the 1988 cult movie by David Cronenberg and turning it into twisted, gender-swapped chaos.
The TV show is based on the horror film of the same name. It is about twin gynaecologists, Beverly and Elliot. Both sisters want to push the limits of modern medicine and make big improvements in women’s healthcare. In the middle of their determined and intense relationship, ethics and morals are put aside.
But fans want to know if there will be a second season of the thriller series, and if so, what might come with it. Well, you’re in luck because we’ve got everything you need to know about when Dead Ringers season 2 will come out.
Dead Ringers Season 2 Release Date
There isn’t a date for season 2 of Dead Ringers yet, but we expect it to come out sometime in 2024. Still, nothing has been proven, so we may have to wait a little bit longer too.
Showrunner Alice Birch has been cautious about publicly committing to a second season, saying, “There are millions more stories to tell about women and people in this medical system, but this has always been a limited series.”

Still, if the series becomes more popular, it’s very possible that Beverly and Elliot will come back at some point.
Dead Ringers Season 2 Cast
It wouldn’t be Dead Ringers without the talented Rachel Weisz playing the major role(s), so we’d definitely expect to see her back for season 2.
Even though the twist at the end of the series meant that she might not have to come back as both twins, the series has so far included flashbacks and dreams, so we may still see both sisters.
Here’s the list of likely Dead Ringers season 2 cast members:
- Rachel Weisz as Beverly and Elliot Mantle
- Britne Oldford as Genevieve
- Poppy Liu as Greta
- Michael Chernus as Tom
- Jennifer Ehle as Rebecca
- Emily Meade as Susan
- Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Silas
Dead Ringers Season 2 Plot
Even though there isn’t an official plot summary for Dead Ringers season 2 yet, we can guess what the next part of the story might be based on how shocking season 1 ended.
The first season of the show was pretty close to the story of the original 1980s movie (except for the shocking ending), but we’d expect this to change a little for season 2. Now, bear with us, because the end of Season 1 can be a little confusing.
Much of the season is about Beverly’s desire to get pregnant after having several miscarriages, while Elliot is preoccupied with her socially questionable medical experiments. Eventually, the twins split up for a while so that Beverly can open her own birthing clinic and Elliot can do her hard work in peace.
But their deep-rooted connection can’t be easily pushed away. Even though Beverly gets pregnant by some miracle, this doesn’t change how unhappy she is with her life, and she ends up asking Elliot to kill her.
So, what’s the plan? For Elliot to take over Beverly’s identity so she can continue her studies under her new, less controversial name. During the birth of the twins, Elliot lets Beverly bleed out.
Basically, the season finished with Elliot (posing as Beverly) taking care of Beverly’s partner, Genevieve, and their newborn twins. This suggests that she is about to fully embrace her new fake life as her twin sister.
Should there be a second season, we would expect the story to focus on Elliot as she deals with the consequences (and likely guilt) of taking Beverly’s name and helping to kill her. But we also don’t think she’ll be able to get away with this without getting caught. Genevieve is sure to become suspicious.

In the previous season, a reporter was also interested in the twins, so it’s possible that this strange connection and the shocking end of season 1 would get out to the public or at least the authorities.
