Andrew Tate, a disgraced social media celebrity, has been charged with rape, human trafficking, and starting a criminal gang to take advantage of women. On Tuesday, the former boxer, his brother Tristan Tate, and two women who knew them were all charged in Romania.
The Tate brothers were taken into custody in December of last year at their home in Bucharest. Several women had accused them of sexual crimes. Both of them have rejected the claims.
Andrew Tate Charged With Rape and Human Trafficking in Romania
Andrew, who is 36, and Tristan, who is 34, are accused of luring women into pornography, forcing them to do it, and then posting the videos on social media. Andrew is also accused of raping a woman, and Tristan is accused of starting a fight.
The two brothers and their friends are also accused of starting a criminal gang in 2021 to sell people in the UK, the US, and Romania, among other places. A Romanian judge put the group under house arrest in March 2023, after they were caught in December 2022.
The charged person will go to court in Bucharest on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The judge will then set a date for their hearing and decide if they will be put under house arrest. According to Romanian law, the trial will start 60 days after the case is sent to a preliminary room where the judge will look over the files.
Andrew and Tristan’s Team Say That the Claims Are Not True
After Andrew and Tristan were charged, their team put out a statement rejecting the accusations. Their media team said, “Even though this news was expected, they will fight in court and use arguments and evidence to show they are innocent.”
They also said that the indictment lets them “present a comprehensive body of evidence, diligently collected and prepared over time, that will undoubtedly back up the brothers’ claims of innocence.”
“Our main goal will be to find out the truth and make sure the court system is fair and unbiased by showing evidence and proof that is important to the case. “If the case goes to trial, we’ll be able to present a large body of evidence that we’ve worked hard to gather and put together over time. This evidence will be crucial to getting the defendants off,” the team said.
Andrew Tate is Infamous for His Misogynistic Acts
Tate’s comments and deeds toward women have been in the news a lot over the last few years. In 2016, he was kicked off the British reality show Big Brother after a video of him beating up a woman went viral online.
But he kept getting more and more famous on social media, where he showed off his expensive life and kept a very masculine image. Teachers and parents all over the world were still worried about how the influencer affected their young boys.
Tate’s social media pages were shut down in the end because they had been reported so many times. Last year, his Twitter account was shut down because he said that women should share some of the blame when they are sexually attacked. But it was brought back when Elon Musk became the CEO of the platform.
